Couch Podtatoes Episode 2: Player Rights

CP4

Welcome back! It’s time for Episode 2! This week we have a special guest, my good friend Doone. As one of the original brainstormers of this podcast, he’s going to have a monthly spot on the show, entitled “Doone’s Digital Frontier.” Because this discussion runs a little deeper than most, this episode (and other episodes containing the Digital Frontier) will run a little longer than normal.

  1. Great subject matter, guys & gal! I think you all hit it on the head when you mentioned resources available to develop accessibility features into the games. I work at a very large company with a huge IT staff, and accessibility is even put on the back burner there. I know this because I have a friend who works on that team who is constantly frustrated by management’s lack of commitment. So, I could see it being very difficult to prioritize accessibility in the gaming industry, where companies use skeleton crews to attempt to deliver on both bug fixes and functionality.

    • Yeah when we have these sorts of technologies on our phones, I find it hard to believe that we couldn’t make accessibility tools available that integrate with steam/mmo engines etc.

      • Keep in mind, just because the technology exists doesn’t mean it integrates well. That’s where a lot of development work goes, in making a vendor product work with your existing systems.
