We Want More Beer!!!

26 03 2009

So our EP got recorded. You can visit our myspace to listen to our newest songs, and can actually get a taste of what we’re like as a band. The old songs on there were of the drummer singing, now the only song he sings has the same name as the title of this post. So hit it up and let me know what you think…

Next month we’ll be playing live. At least that’s the plan. I can’t wait. I want to see what people think of what we have going on. I also can’t wait to get some more songs finished, because I have lyrics backing up without music to accompany them. It would be nice to see more finished products.

Aside from the band, I’ve just been playing a shitload of video games and working. I downloaded some more content on my Wii, including a Neo Geo game, and 2 “Wii Ware” titles. All of the shit I’ve seen in the Wii store is pretty awesome, and there’s definitely a few more titles I wouldn’t mind downloading, I’m just going to run out of space. Apparently Micro SD cards can be used for storage, and external USB type hard drives are available as well, so I might end up having to purchase something for more storage. It’s pretty cool being able to build up my old collection, along with getting games I always wanted (but didn’t have the appropriate system), and having the option to buy brand new games as they come out. Nintendo defitinely got it right this time around.

Me and Ted beat Resident Evil 5 a few nights ago. After having seen the game on the normal difficulty, we’re now going to tackle it again on Veteran. I’m assuming it’s going to be hard as fuck, but we’re up to the challenge. After beating the game, we opened up the Mercenaries mini-game, which is much like RE4’s. I finished opening up all of the levels for it last night, now we just need to get together and try to open up all of the characters, which is going to be tough all things considered. Either way, there’s plenty of games in the house to keep us entertained.

I was trying to decide what game I would purchase next for the Wii, but have come to the conclusion that there’s a game for the 360 that I would much rather purchase, I simply can’t wait for it. Street Fighter 4. That’s right, I said it. I’ve been a Street Fighter fan for god knows how long, and I really want to play the newest incarnation. We haven’t had a good fighting game in the house for a long time, so it’s about time one was around. I can’t wait to pound Ted’s face in over and over, he won’t even see it coming.

I really don’t have much else to report. Life is sort of dull, yet comfortable these days. No day to day drama, no girl bullshit, no nothing. I just hang out and have a good time when I’m not working, and the band thing happens here and there. So, I’m off to drink a beer and play some video games. I bid you adieu.

Some New, Some Old

18 03 2009

So I forgot to mention in my last post about the fact that I got a Nintendo Wii for Xmas. Although I didn’t actually get it around Christmas time, because I was unemployed, and getting out to my Dad’s to pick it up wasn’t really an option. I did end up going out there in February after I had gotten a job and was back on my feet.

Initially the system only came with the Wii Sports mini games, a single controller, and they system itself. So the first couple days I really didn’t have too much fun with it, the Sports games not really holding my interest too much. But then I got paid and it was on. I picked up a copy of Super Smash Brothers Brawl (which I ended up being slightly disappointed with) and a Wii points card. After having set up the WiFi, I got on the Wii Store and picked out a couple old Sega Genesis games that I hadn’t played in years. Shining Force II has taken up most of my play time, but I also downloaded Phantasy Star IV, which I intend to play after beating the former. I’m glad at least one of the next gen systems provided this option to get old games, because it’s an awesome throwback to the past, but also adds a lot of value to the system. I also ended up having to buy a second controller so SSBB could be played with two people. It’s a cool game and I like the concept, I just think I’m not used to the controls or something.

Anyhow, after getting my Wii I think Ted ended up getting jealous, so he went out and bought an Xbox 360. He wanted it only for Resident Evil 5 (which he pre-ordered the day he bought the system), but I saw more potential than that. Having two systems in the house is great because we can get the exclusive titles for both, and have a wider variety of games in which we can purchase. So Resident Evil 5 came out about a week or so ago, and we’ve been playing the shit out of it. The co-op mode is hella fun, and having to work together is very interesting. Unlike Resident Evil 4 where we always had to take turns, now we can experience the whole game at the same time. We’ve vowed to only play together, so neither of us have missed anything. So far, it’s awesome.

Otherwise I’ve just been working as usual. I’m unofficially the 2nd in command at my store, my boss has taken quite a liking to me. So I should be an assistant store manager withing a few months, if all goes well. Maybe sooner, who knows.

I’m also still going strong with the whole band thing. I have a practice today, and we’re supposed to be recording our first EP or Demo or whatever you want to call it. So with any luck we’ll be playing some local shows within the next month. I’m excited but nervous at the same time. Playing with the guys is all good. I’ve even had some small audiences… but playing a full on show where a place is packed is a daunting thought. I’ll be fine and I know we’re going to be a hit, but it’s still a little nerve wracking.

That’s about all for now.

Damn, It Feels Good To Be Home

4 03 2009

As of today, I am officially back in my old pad. No longer am I living with the parents, though I appreciate them letting me stay for a while. It’s great to be back, having my old room all set up, all of my things in one place, and having all of my freedoms back. It’s especially nice to have the internet hooked directly to my computer again, so I don’t have to miss a beat anymore.

Where to start? It’s been another month since I posted last, and I hope to resume my semi-regular posting schedule. It was too much of a hassle to try and compete for internet usage at their house, so I just avoided posting. Sorry guys, but rest assured there’s more to come now.

So the biggest change in my life is I am now part of a band. A long time ago, I dated a girl. Then we broke up. After a few years we became friends again. She introduced me to her new boyfriend (now her baby’s daddy) whose name is Keith. One day while perusing myspace, he added me as a friend with his band. I listened. I liked it. Later he posted a want ad for a singer. I jokingly asked him if experience was needed, and he asked if I was interested. I was, and I went for it. I ended up going with him to the guitarist’s house which is where they practiced. They had a pretty good setup, including the ability to record. So we did our thing and I went home with a cd, including some instrumental tracks I was to put lyrics to. Homework, if you will. A couple weeks passed, and I did my homework, and then we practiced again. I have since practiced with them a couple other times, and things are all coming together quite nicely. I’m actually due to practice with them again in a couple hours. It’s been a lot of fun.

I do aspire to continue with this, I have been doing everything I can to do my part and to get shit done for the band. With any luck, we’ll be playing live shows by the summer, if not sooner. Hoping to record an EP, or possibly even a full-length within the next couple months. If anyone is interested in hearing a taste, check it out here. Keep in mind that isn’t me on the vocals, but there will be tracks uploaded with me on them soon.

Otherwise, I’ve just been working my ass off, trying my best to be the best at my job. I’ve raised a few eyebrows, and hopefully my hard work will pay off. I’m still with Ashley, and she still hasn’t done anything to piss me off. There isn’t any area in which we aren’t compatible, and it’s a little scary. She’s been great and it doesn’t look like that will change.

That’s about all I have for now. I’ll be back with more later. And sooner this time. Toodles.
