Here We Are Once Again on the Internet

30 07 2008

The move was slightly exhausting. On Saturday I had to work, and we got started moving right after. We came straight to the rental office and signed our lease, got our keys, and went on our way.

The first step was clearing out Ted’s storage unit. I had some stuff in there during the time I was staying at my sister’s, as did Tyler. So we had Ted’s Dad’s truck, along with a friend’s truck, and Tyler’s too. It took us 3 trips with all 3 trucks loaded to get the storage unit emptied. Ted has a lot of shit.

After the trucks were unloaded, Ted headed up to his Dad’s house for the fridge, washer and dryer. Me and Tyler split off and went to my buddy Jon’s house to pick up the bed he sold me. We went and dropped that off, and then headed to my Sister’s apartment to pick up my computer desk and chair, and my other odds and ends were thrown in my car. After unloading that stuff, Tyler went to his grandparent’s house to get the last of his stuff, and I got started trying to organize my room. Ted came back with more stuff from his Dad’s, and we helped unload all of that, and that was pretty much all I did for the night.

On Sunday after work I finished organizing my room, and Ted brought even more stuff from his Dad’s. We organized the living room, and got mostly everything wrapped up. There are still some odds and ends to finish, but the important stuff is taken care of. I’m actually completely unpacked and set up, so is Tyler. Ted just has so much shit he hasn’t gotten to all of it yet.

We were supposed to go to the Coheed & Cambria concert that night, but me and Ted dropped out. Tyler went with some friends. I just figured it would be better to work on house stuff, as did Ted. So that’s what we did. I’m a little disappointed because I wanted to go, but I have seen them 3 times already, so I’m not too worried about it.

On Monday when I got home from work Time Warner Cable was installing our Internet and t.v., so I was able to make that short post then. I haven’t managed to get to any gaming, mainly because I’ve been so involved with getting the place set up, but I know that it’s coming. I’ve also been spending a lot of my time trying to meet or hanging out with various women, so that’s kind of taken a precedence.

I’ve finally come to my weekend after a grueling week. I had previously put in for this weekend off because I thought it was when I was going to be moving, but we ended up getting the place a week earlier than expected. So I have the next four days off for no apparent reason. And I’m looking forward to hanging out and doing a bunch of nothing. I’m sure things will come up, but for now I’m content to think that I have no responsibilities until Monday morning at 7 a.m.

And we now return to your regularly scheduled blog…

28 07 2008

Tomorrow. Probably.

I got all moved on Saturday, and did a lot of unpacking arranging yesterday. Today the cable got turned on, so I’ll be able to blog regularly again. EQ2 and LOTRO will be revisited. I’ll post something more substantial later.

So Close I Can Taste It

25 07 2008

Went on another adventure last night. This time the excursion was a little bit farther out.

I ended up talking to a friend who was house sitting in La Verne (near San Dimas), and they invited me over to chill out in the jacuzzi, so I did. I left town at about 8, and stopped by Mike’s out in Winchester to pick up a little something something, and also to make an appointment for some ink in a couple weeks when I get paid again. I don’t have bills to pay with that check. After I left his place, I figured I would just hop on the 215-N, and from there hit the 60-W, 15-N, and then 210-W. After getting off the freeway it was a mere hop skip and jump to where she was staying.

We chilled in the jacuzzi for a good long time, just bullshitting and relaxing. Soon enough though it was late, and I had to take off. I noticed something strange last night. When I have nothing going on, no one calls or has anything to do. When I’m busy and unavailable, everyone wants to hang out. I got a bunch of missed calls and text messages while I was in the jacuzzi. I got another phone call as I was leaving, and got invited to another friend’s house, this time in Canyon Lake. So, it was back to the 210-E, 15-S, 60-E, 215-S, and then off at the same exit where I had started my trek to begin with. There was a little more driving to do from there and I finally arrived. I had a couple beers there, because I ended up crashing out a couple hours after arriving. All in all, it was a good night.

Today I have to go pay the remainder of the deposit, and possibly sign paper work. Move in is tomorrow. I’m packed here, I just have to round up my shit that is in storage. There’s two different storage units with my shit in them, but thankfully they’re both in the same area. So no worries there. I have to work in the morning, and then we’ll be moving (presumably) all night. At least I have next weekend off so I can tie up any loose ends.

So this is going to be my last post for probably a couple days. We already called yesterday and got utilities turned on, and there’s an appointment for internet service to be installed on Monday. Should have a new post when I’m re-connected.

22 Hours

24 07 2008

Last night turned out to be somewhat of an adventure.

I ended up meeting with Ted, Tyler, and Tyler’s brother over at Heather’s house. Heather ended up being designated the driver, and we all squeezed into her Jetta… It was uncomfortable to say the least.

After the long cramped drive, we arrived at the IMAX in Ontario, and we got in line to buy tickets. To our dismay, the 10:20 showing was already sold out, and it was only a little after 9. There was another showing at 1:35 a.m., and since none of us had to work today, we ended up just saying fuck it and bought tickets. Heather just so happened to have a friend who lives in Rancho Cucamonga, so we took a short trek over there and hung out for a couple hours.

At a little after 12, we headed back. We ended up having to wait in a line for about an hour, and finally were let into the theater at about 1:20. We got good seats despite the fact that there were a lot more people there than we would have expected. There were hardly any previews which was nice, and the move started promptly.

All I have to say is wow. The Dark Knight was a fucking awesome flick. It’s a shame that Heath Ledger won’t be making another appearance as the Joker, because god damn he did a good job. I can honestly say it’s one of the best comic book movies made thus far, and definitely the best batman movie ever.

The movie didn’t end until 4 a.m. I got home and was in bed shortly after 5. 22 hours up, but it was well worth it.

Get to the Choppa!!

23 07 2008

The time is almost here… my weekend starts now, and in just 3 days I’ll be moved into my new pad. I can’t fucking wait. Living with family has it’s perks, like no rent, and of course a place to sleep rather than my car. But nothing beats having your own place, as anyone can attest.

I’m going to see The Dark Knight tonight at 10:20 at the IMAX in Ontario. I haven’t been to an IMAX since I was in elementary school, and that was on a field trip and only to watch crappy documentary type films. I think I went twice, but either way it wasn’t nearly as exciting as seeing a comic book movie on a screen that big. I’m hoping it’s worth the extra money.

Last night I did a whole bunch of nothing. In my boredom, I looked around on Limewire to see if I could possibly find some of the songs off of the new Austrian Death Machine album. It’s a side project from Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying, in which he plays all the instruments. There’s some catchy tunes on here, and they’re all named after Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, or lines he’s said. He even does some “guest vocals” (which I assume are Tim’s impersonations). All in all, if you like AILD, you’ll like this album.

The next few weeks are going to be really good for metal. Slipknot, The Human Abstract, Scars On Broadway, Norma Jean, and probably some others I’m forgetting are being released. Aside form the ADM album that just came out, Sky Eats Airplane also just released a new one. They’re a little abstract, but it’s all good. Glad I got into the genre when I did. No more missing out for me.

So tomorrow I’m going to start packing what little bit I have to take care of here, everything except for the computer. That will be the last thing I do, probably on Friday night before bed. Tomorrow night I don’t have plans just yet, but I’m sure something will come up. I don’t have plans for Friday yet either, but again I’m sure I’ll find something to do. Then on Saturday after work we’ll get the move done. On Sunday after work, I’m going to see Coheed & Cambria for my 4th time. This will be the first time I’ve seen them since No World For Tomorrow released, so I’m excited to see some of those tracks live.

I put in for the 2nd and 3rd off because I had thought that’s when we would be moving. But we were able to do so sooner, so I’m just having a long weekend for nothing. I suppose if there’s anything left to unpack or sort out I will take care of that then. Otherwise, maybe a housewarming party. I also have requested the 23rd off, because an old friend from out of state is going to be flying in on the 20th, so I’ll have an extra day to spend. Took some days off in November as well, the 1st because I’m going to that Tiger Army concert on Halloween and I don’t want to have to get up early the next day for work, and I took two weeks towards the middle of the month which is when I always take my annual vacation. So I’m going to be getting some needed R&R.

That’s about all for now. I will try to post one last time before the move.
