More from the Caribbean

25 02 2008

So I had another slow weekend game wise. Friday night I ended up getting the tattoo I posted about (picture in the post below), and didn’t do much else. On Saturday, I ended up going to Wal-mart and picking up some movies, and then we got some junk food and pigged out, watching one of the movies. Our friend’s funeral was that night as well, and the swell guy that he is, decided he wanted everyone over for a barbecue at his house. No formal occasion. So we made our appearance and drank a few around the bon fire, and then some of the guys were heading to a bar, so we went along. Cory’s wife, Karee, was our designated driver, and we had an ok time. I wasn’t really in the mood to drink so I was in a weird mood, but it was nice to hang out in a rather large group for a change. Drews and Amber showed up, and I hadn’t seen them in quite some time, and that was nice, but someone decided to invite Chris to the bar as well. Though I’m over most of the shit that happened between us, he wasn’t really someone I wanted to see. He only said a few words to me, but still, talk about stealing the thunder. Later, after we left the bar, we went to Denny’s, and some genius decided to invite A.J., a guy I got into it with a few months back. Overall, it was a decent night, but a little awkward at times.

We lounged around all day on Sunday. I only left the house once to get some smokes, otherwise we just watched a movie, and I did finally play some PotBS. The two movies I purchased were Blades of Glory and Zodiac, both of which I feel were worth the purpose. The former was a little cheese dick, but I love Will Ferrel so it was still awesome. The latter is long (almost 3 hours), and a bit more involved, also more dialogue focused. It was from the creator(s) of Seven though, and if anyone knows a serial killer movie, those guys do. Both are movies I would recommend watching, if not buying. The latter in particular.

So, what did I do on Pirates? Well, I logged on my Privateer, thinking that I might group up with John and his bro, but they were both busy on their mains, who are quickly approaching level 30 (already). So I just worked on quests. I managed to hit level 10 with him, but there isn’t much else to write about… everything kind of runs together and I forget half of what I’ve done before I’m finished doing it. The game is fun, don’t get me wrong, but nothing is really memorable. It’s just another rehash. Despite the negative connotation in this paragraph, I’m still enjoying the game, and I have some more screens for your viewing (dis)pleasure. Enjoy.

More Good Shit

Once again, I wish I had a better picture, but alas all I have is a crappy cell phone picture of my new ink. Without anything else to say, here it is:

Good Shit

22 02 2008

Just a few quick tidbits:

I got my rims put on the car yesterday. They look pretty sweet. I wish I had a good picture to show them off, but here’s a crappy cell phone one instead:

sonata.jpg

In the picture the rims appear to be chromish or gun metal even. They are in fact, mostly black with little polished bits here and there. In case you don’t remember seeing them when I linked them before, here’s the link again.

Yesterday another interesting thing happened, though it was before I went to get the rims put on. I was actually putting my shoes on and glanced up, and looking out the kitchen window saw some plumes of dark smoke floating by. I was like “what the fuck?” and ran to the window to investigate. Turns out something caught on fire in the neighbor’s garage across the street. Flames were clearly visible, though their garage door was only open about a foot. Gina went out to see if she could help, and though I suppose I would have if it didn’t seem like they had everything handled, I stayed behind because they seemed to have it under control. The Fire Dept. was called, and they officially put it out. Apparently one of their quads caught on fire, and they were lucky that nothing else started up along with it.

Tonight, many plans were thrown around until a decision was made. I was invited by some of the guys at work to go bowling, and the thought crossed my mind, but I didn’t really feel like driving to Murietta. Gina had made plans to go to Lady Luck to get tattooed, but she’s decided against it. I thought about sitting around and doing nothing with the roomies, but then John told me he won tickets to a comedy show in Ontario off of the radio, so he’s going to be out. Gina suggested calling up Howard, but I told her that he already told me he had “a date”. Then she suggested calling Mike, my tattoo artist, and seeing if he wanted to tattoo me. I guess she just didn’t feel like getting tattooed today. So yeah, in just a few I’m going to be heading over to Mike’s to get some ink. The cat off of AFI’s All Hallows E.P. is finally going to get filled in… the line work has been sitting there for over a year. It’s about time for some new ink.

That’s all for now. Peace bitches.

Jorge Has A Crew

18 02 2008

I didn’t play much PotBS this weekend, but what little time I did play was a blast. In a little under a week, we’ve already managed to get ourselves a three man group, John having convinced me and his Brother to try the game out. I tried to get my Dad to join up too, but he’s apparently busy playing something else (on a completely unrelated side note, we also already have damn near enough people to make a guild in WAR when it comes out).

So, I started out playing a little the first night I had the game, on Jorge Silva, my Spanish Privateer. The next couple of days I played my Pirate, Glenn Morgan, but then John talked to his brother and his bro decided to play. So we decided on a three man group, and coincidentally there’s only 3 classes per faction in PotBS (save for pirates, who are just pirates). So I kept my Privateer, John rolled a Freetrader, and John’s Bro (who’s name is Tom and will be referred to as such from here on) rolled a Naval Officer. It was quite apparent from the get go that we are all experienced MMO players, we were owning shit right from the get go. Granted, missions are easier in a group. Unfortunately the actual “group required” quests require 4 people, so we need to hook a last person to round us out. I suppose two of one class wouldn’t be terrible. Not sure what the more desirable of the 3 is though, having only played a Privateer. Anyhow, we rolled up our toons and started out for a few hours of awesome gameplay.

Here’s some screens of the Silvas; Jorge, Juan, and Armando (we suggested Tom go with Tomas, but he decided against it):

My toon, Jorge, is on the right, in all Brown. John, Juan, is in the center, and Tom, Armando, is on the left.

A side view. I think we held true to the fashions of the times, creating outfits that really spoke of the class wearing it. At least, in my opinion.

Aside from the little time playing PotBS, I also went bowling on Friday night, with Gina, Shawn, Crystal, Howard, Amanda, and Crystal’s friends Alex and I can’t remember his girlfriend’s name. Anyway, we bowled and had some beers, and it was a good time.

We started a little matinee run of Lord of the Rings, as Gina hadn’t seen any of them all the way through, nor all of them that close together, so she had forgotten a lot of the story line. Plus, I have all 3 extended versions, so the movies are longer, with more depth. We watched one Friday in the afternoon, and the other two on Saturday, as we were hung over and didn’t want to do much else. I didn’t do anything really on Saturday, as I knew we were going out of town on Sunday, and I needed to be rested for that.

Yesterday we went to Knotts Berry Farm. It hasn’t been too long since we went last summer, but we always bring the kids so we don’t get to ride any of the “good” rides. The kids were at their Dad’s however, so we got to ride exactly what we wanted. Herbie and Megan were going and we got invited (the selling point really being that the tickets were half off, so we got in the gates for a mere $50), so we had planned on it. They met us at our house at about 11:30, and we piled into our car and headed out. We went to the park, rode rides we hadn’t be able to previously, ate some food, and had a good time in general. I would have posted some pictures, but Megan had the camera, so I have to wait to get them. We didn’t stay too late, and I managed to make it home in time to kill the rest of the night with PotBS.

I ordered my rims on Friday, but unfortunately I didn’t get the exact ones I wanted. I linked these rims a while back, and these are the rims I got a quote on. They ended up being a bit more than what I was originally quoted (which was $800 back when I first posted about it). So we looked around a bit, and finally settled on these ones. I’m not as thrilled with them as I was the Tenzos, but they will suffice. I’m just happy to be able to afford a large purchase such as this.

And that concludes another thrilling episode. Stay tuned.

Pictures = Words

Here’s some more screenshots from Pirates of the Burning Sea. Enjoy.

morgans.jpg

Meet the Morgans. These are mine and my roommate’s new Pirates, rolled on the Antigua server. Apparently Flying Labs was smart enough to limit your characters on each server to one faction, so we had to choose another server to play Pirates on, Blackbeard being the server we picked while playing the Spanish. Anyway, the strapping lad on the left is my character, Captain Glenn Morgan, and the ugly mug on the right is my homie Captain Vincent Morgan. We’ll be a force to be reckoned with soon enough.

morgans2.jpg

Here’s a close up of the guys.

shipbattle.jpg

A ship battle during a mission. The sea combat is where it’s at, that’s for sure. That’s me in the foreground, as you should be able to tell by the themed color that matches my outfit. The red sailed boat is our target, and Vincent’s ship is in the background, though a bit hard to see.

I’m loving the game so far, but I’m determined to not let it suck me in and rule my life like I did with EQ2. I’m preparing some other write ups about the game as they come to me, so stay tuned for more PotBS related shit.
